If you were to ask… anyone… what is the most powerful weapon man could utilize against another man today, you would probably get a singular answer of a nuclear bomb. If they know the history of modern weapons they’d say the Tsar bomb denoted by the Soviet Union October 30, 1961. Pictured above. If you were to ask this question concerning any point of time in history, people would normally answer with whatever technology towards weapons had been developed in that time period. I say normally as the vast majority of people will always think in the physical. To go by their senses knowledge. To think carnally.
There are two words in the Greek translated “carnal” in the Stephens Text (from which comes the KJV) found in the New Testament (NT). The first word defined is used twice and in the genitive of the word, “sarx” and is defined thusly, “flesh; then, corporeity according to its material side, (which as an organic whole is called soma, body,) sarx denotes human nature and all that is peculiar to it, in and according to its corporeal embodiment, and hence, sinfully conditioned human nature.”
The 2nd word defined in Bullinger’s lexicon is the most used at ten times and is the word “sarkikos,” defined as, “fleshly, distinctive of the flesh, what attaches to the flesh as corporeity; more abstract, and not so gross in its idea as the various reading sarkinos, which denotes of flesh, fleshy.
Here’s a few usages… from Corinthians… a reproof epistle… wherein “sarkikos” is used five of the ten times. (There are different words used in the other critical Greek texts on some of the usages, but we’re staying with the KJV for now.)
1 Corinthians 3:1; And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:3; For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
1 Corinthians 3:4; For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
Paul is exhorting here that division (favoritisms) in the Body is carnal, of the flesh.
From Hebrews chapter 7.
15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
This is speaking of Jesus Christ. Not only our King but our High Priest. Not by the Old Testament doctrine, the carnal commandment that really only curbs desire of worldly lusts that deteriorate, but by his own divine blood given freely which produces eternal life for all that come to him. (Question? Can someone be a priest unto their own self? Just askin’.)
One more. From 2 Corinthians chapter 10.
3 For though we walk in the *flesh, we do not war after the *flesh: (*=sarx)
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Sounds to me like if we’re not destroying the lies, the spells… all the deceptions we possibly can in our thinking… anything that goes against the knowledge of God… and it’s through His rightly divided written Word we get the knowledge of God… we are yet carnal. Since it’s the season I’ll throw observing pagan traditions in there.
We have been programmed to observe pagan traditions. We are programmed to love money. We are programmed to love sex. We are programed to not believe the Bible. We are programed to believe we are free citizens (which is an oxymoron) and as I’ve been saying for years, we’ve been buried in layers of so much bullshit you really can’t believe anything you haven’t yourself lined up with the truth of God’s Word! Why? Because we place way too much emphasis of thinking in and of the physical (where deception… or lies… abound) and not the spiritual (where truth abounds.) A good “brain washing” is in order! Instead of rooting out the carnal garbage… of always thinking of what we need and what we want… distracted by all the organized chaos… being programed from birth and not really thinking about what and/or why it is we’re thinking and doing… we’ve accepted the carnal as “normal,”… we accept it and therefore participate in it in our ignorance of thee option to it. And thereby experience no spiritual profit of sanctification. (Rejecting the world.) This would include the joy of realizing when you’ve destroyed a stronghold of the enemy. Which is the programming of the world. This carnal knowledge is temporal. The knowledge of God (rightly divided) is eternal. It is this knowledge which is the basis of good and just law. We should seek spiritual knowledge. We should seek and track the steps taken by Jesus that we see in God’s Word. Which is found in written form today in what we call The Holy Bible… again… when it is rightly divided.
So carnal knowledge would point to the technology man has developed to answer the question the first meme of this post ponders. What is the deadliest weapon available to man? What is the spiritual solution? I would say man didn’t produce this weapon. It can be used to be a defense. It can be used offensively. It can be a blessing and it can be a curse. It can give life and it can take life. Pretty much everybody has one. To not have one is deemed not normal. Nobody made one. Like so much most are unaware of, it was given to us. It came to us with our birth into the natural realm. Do you know what it is? Am I driving you a little nuts because I haven’t got to it yet? Sorry but I’m trying to make an impression here. Most don’t really understand its power and the responsibility that comes with it. The understanding does come by way of using it, but… it is the desire of the heart that makes known whether someone is using it properly or improperly. For good or for evil. To illuminate or to darken. It gives life and it can kill. So are you ready for what I’m getting to? Are you sure? OK. Here it is. I am speaking of and have being referring to the human tongue.
- Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Proverbs 18:21
- A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
Proverbs 15:4
- The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
Proverbs 10:20
Four more. From James
- If any man among you seem to be *religious (*= threskos; in a bad way, superstitious), and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's *religion (*= threskeia; ceremonial service [going through the motions]) is vain.
1:26
- Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
- And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. (Kind’a sounds like a nuke!)
- For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
- But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
James 3:5-8
Stay with me now. This weapon… this tongue… has the ability to cut like a knife. If it is used carnally it is dull and takes extra pressure to penetrate, causes extra damage and infection. A sharpened knife is based on truth, cuts clean, causes healing and gets to the root of infections. This knife also has the ability to grow over time to become either a sword of darkness or a sword of light, depending on the motivation it’s based on. Error or Truth. We either speak lies or we speak truth. Carnal or spiritual. Speak the truth in love is my recommendation as that is spiritual. To speak lies is carnal. The choice is up to you as to what you speak.
Choose wisely.
- No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:24
