This won't be anything new I'm sure for most long standing biblical research disciples. For those of you becoming more aware and gaining a deeper understanding of spiritual matters this may not be the case. In fact, it may be shocking for some, to see how ignorant we are as a nation concerning some of our long-held traditions. But as any disciple can tell ya... it won't be the last time your world gets rocked!... as you continue in God's Word. No one need take it hard or be discouraged that we carry on pagan traditions. After all, there are some instances we can't escape it. Such as the names of the days of the week and the names of months have roots in paganism. These traditions were here way before us and they'll continue on after we're gone. But there is no reason why those that want to know should be ignorant in such matters when knowledge is available. And knowledge is still available! Just don't go short-circuiting yer brain tryin' ta figure out why we do Christmas at all by the time you're through this study!
“The Secret To Satan’s Success
Is The Secrecy Of His Moves”
"There is no new thing under the sun." - Ecclesiastes 1:9 All of paganism and the many ways it's been practiced by different cultures throughout the history of man can be traced back to their origination. To the city of Babylon and its first king Nimrod, his wife, Semiramis and their son Tammuz (who was conceived miraculously and rose from the dead after being killed by a wild boar) are the basis for all heathen (unbeliever) worship. Entangled in what we know today as denominational churches and especially the Roman Catholic Church which is responsible for bringing the Roman pagan doctrine and practices into Christianity. Although the first Christian Roman Emperor Constantine was responsible in stopping the execution of Christians in the 4th century, he also opened the door to compromising the gospel with the blending of the Christian doctrine into Roman society. A compromise between Christianity and paganism. This is the origin of the Roman Catholic Church. At first a compromise to keep the peace in the waning Roman Empire. Later, after momentum began growing for the acceptance of the compromise more "compromises" were made to attract more pagans. After a couple thousand years we have the Roman Catholic Church. Which is really nothing more than the remains of the Roman Empire. Rome did this somewhat before in its early history when they adopted the Greek tradition of paganism by giving the Greek gods Roman names. Zeus became Jupiter, Aphrodite became Venus, Heracles became Hercules, Cronus became Saturn and so on. The basic story, or message, and traditions were retained. But the names were changed. All of it the counterfeit of the prophecies concerning the coming Messiah revealed thousands of years prior and diluted over thousands of years since having been passed on from generation to generation via storytelling and aided by the continuous injection of wrong teachings (personal opinions) have brought us to where we are today concerning Christianity. And explains all the different ways paganism was observed in so many cultures over time. Martin Luther's Reformation was the instigation towards getting back to what God's Word says for which all the denominations... and true believers!... today should be thankful for his life and stand. But... in spite of his and many after him that have walked the path of biblical discipline's efforts... the pagan traditions (Easter, Halloween, Christmas), images (in business logos and marketing) and some of the doctrines (mother of god concept, praying to dead people which are alive but not in this world, free sex in all in its forms) remain in our culture. And worse than that!... in the minds of those in churches. People that think they are but don't actually live Christian! But no one can go farther than they're led. One cannot go beyond what they're taught without checking it out and sifting the subject they question for themselves. Which is why biblical research is so vital in disciplining one's self to the revelation of Jesus Christ! It cuts through time's traditions and the religion that proceeds it!
It was the establishment of the Roman Catholic Church
that led Europe into the Dark Ages which spiritually was
Satan's attempt to destroy the knowledge of the Mystery
revealed to Paul in the 1st Century
Let's take a look at one concept of accepted pagan tradition known today as the "Christmas tree." (There's more details about Saturnalia, including human sacrifice, in the videos embedded below.)
"The Christmas tree, as we know it, only dates back a few centuries, though ideas about sacred trees are very ancient. An old Babylonish fable told of an evergreen tree which sprang out of a dead tree stump. The old stump symbolized that Nimrod had come to life again in Tammuz! Among the Druids the oak was sacred, among the Egyptians it was the palm, and in Rome it was the fir, which was decorated with red berries during the Saturnalia!... ... In at least ten biblical references, the green tree is associated with idolatry and false worship." - Babylon Mystery Religion ancient and modern; 1987 printing; page 152 (This book is no longer being published and may be hard to find)
In the time of the Babylonian Empire, before Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon laid waste to the Temple of God in Jerusalem (586 B.C.), a man of God… a prophet warned God's people against the practice of bringing a tree indoors and decorating them. As it is written in Jeremiah 10:1-7 (KJV)...(*= added by me for your clarification)
- Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
- Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the *heathen (*= unbelievers), and be not dismayed at the *signs of heaven; (*= referring to astrology) for the heathen are dismayed at them.
- For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
- They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
- They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be *borne (*= carried), because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
- Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
- Who would not *fear (*= respect) thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
Now I'm not saying the Temple was destroyed because God's people were worshipping trees but the Old Testament was written for our learning. (Romans 15:4, "For whatsoever things were written *aforetime (*= before Pentecost) were written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." Here's a Biblical Research Principle: Get to whom it is written to correct. Jeremiah was not written to today's believers but was written to O.T. believers. (As confirmed in 10:1.) And we can learn from it. This and other practices by unbelievers was observed by the believers of the time and they were tempted to participate in the practice. Which opened their minds to the wrong doctrine surrounding the practice. We today don't do the tree thing to build ourselves an idol to worship (but doesn't it get a lot of attention?) and have orgies around. In most homes at the time of this writing anyways. Nor do we regard it as a phallic symbol. But that is factually the origin of the Christmas tree.
There is nothing evil in of itself
Celebrate Christmas? It's so encrusted in western cultures you're thought strange if you don't. I'd have to say, sure. If you so desire. Why not? As Jeremiah 10:5 showed us, there is nothing evil... or good... in of itself. It's the attitude, the mindset of the individual or collective behind or towards an object or act that renders it good or evil. But don't celebrate Christmas as if were the birth of the Promised Seed. It ain't! Be truthful to your kids about Santa. That he's only make believe and for fun. (Otherwise you're teaching them that lying is acceptable.) Send cards if you want to, visit and give loved ones and others gifts out of love with a desire to bless them. Decorate without the religious trinkets. Christmas has nothing to do with the birth of the Christ. Except in the custom of religion. He wasn't even born in December! If you want to celebrate Christmas celebrate it for what it is. And has always been. A winter solstice observance. But without the orgies! lol!
Bet'cha ya never heard that taught in church!

I'm so over this pagan crap. And if the pagan traditions ain't bad enough, the whole damn holiday is based on lies! People gobble up so much of the bullshit, they get intoxicated from it. Those that know better and indulge in it rationalize their participation. I did for decades. Sure regret that now! I have strengthened my sanctification over the years. The church could really use a detox from "Christmas" spirits. All it takes is standing on the Word.
Christmas is not Christian and it never was!

Great time to be reminded about the details concerning the pagan origins of this holiday, and the names of the days of the week and the months. ;)
thanks for the background story of the traditions Christians still celebrate during the holyday of Christmas 2022. The Bible has so many words passed down from the past that our Bible is only a preview of what the Spirit reveals to those who hunger and thirst for more during our short lives here. The Torah, Quran, The Ethiopian Bible, give us a glimpse of the Abrahamic Religions and mankind's past relationship with God that are best summarized to me in Micah 6:8 "This is what Yahweh asks of you, only this; to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God. And The New Covenant is only a continuation of a Book without end, from Romans 8:28 -"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Merry Christmas
