Everybody… and I mean everybody loves to receive gifts. In the world… of course… the concept of giving and receiving like everything else good in this realm… has been corrupted. What is beautiful in the love motivated free will offering as a token of one’s appreciation from an individual or group to an individual or group with the intention to bless that individual or group has been… in most cultures throughout time …mostly used as a means to another end. Giving… not out of love to the betterment of another… but as influence for a desired behavior. We see it all the time in our day. Especially in purchases. Can you remember all the times “free gifts” have been offered if you buy what it is that’s being offered for sale? Many times just cheap junk in an attempt to justifying the high cost of the product desired. This really isn’t giving in its pure form as far as I’m concerned, but a sly way towards manipulating someone into purchasing a service or product. Call it what it is. Bribery.
I suppose it is a fine line for the mostly uniformed person between giving properly and giving to sway an outcome, but it’s not all that fine a line once you understand motive. It is the motive… the attitude of heart… that makes all the difference and widens the line in one’s perception of it. It’s a simple test really, that you can ask yourself each and every time you give. Ask yourself why you are presenting whatever it is that you may give at any time. Am I doing this to make myself feel good? Am I doing this for my own financial or influential profit? Am I giving this because it’s expected of me? Now there’s nothing wrong with feeling good, profiting or doing something because it is expected of you… but as disciples of Jesus Christ towards fulfilling our mission to live love… we must check our motivation concerning why we do the things we do. The primary motivation of giving and receiving should consummately benefit both parties mutually.

In my eyes, this goes especially when interacting with those closet to our hearts. Our child(ren) or grandchild(ren). It seems so easy to dismiss the cost of a gift to our little ones but many times what also gets dismissed is the need of the child. It seems to be human nature to want to own a lot of stuff… perhaps thereby giving an impression of wealth, but this is not beneficial for genuine spiritual growth. Parents, and especially grandparents… get caught up in the self-generated joy of giving a descendant whatever the child wants. Many times regardless of the child’s responsibility to properly operate and take care of such gift. In this context it is not a loving thing to do to the child. But the self desire on the part of the giver to make themselves feel good overwrites what is best for the child.
With that in mind now consider what I consider to be the greatest gift ever made available to every man, woman and child that sucked air for the last two thousand years. God’s gift of holy spirit. Although it is only given upon condition and that being of believing, it is the purest form of giving that I am aware of. The benefits to the recipient of this gift is understandable mind-blowing. Sure it benefits God in that He gets to father another child but I’m not so sure that outweighs the benefit to the receiver knowing that once one has the gift God is stuck with that child regardless of the stupid human stuff we do. I speak in the human perspective. Knowing God like I do and realizing this physical realm is most temporary… I can see where the benefit is most mutual.
- The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
- 2 Peter 3:9
And right there is the condition to receiving the gift of holy spirit. Repentance. To break the world’s programming… the Satanic mind control that enslaves the carnal mind… when first approaching God you must do so by becoming a biblical research student and you have to… or maybe I should say… it would behoove you… to get to the place that Socrates stated so well…
You have to realize you have been deceived and need to change what and how you think. That is the purpose of God’s written Word. Specifically for us the New Testament, which gives us the writings of the men inspired by the gift in the first century. The apostles.
- In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
- But hath in due times manifested *his (*should be capitalized, referring to God) word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
- Titus 1:2-3
And gives us the instructions on how to get ourselves into the position of showing ourselves responsible enough to posses the gift.
- That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou *shalt (*puts it in the absolute) be saved.
- For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
- For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
- For there is no difference between the *Jew (*Judean) and the *Greek: (*gentile) for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
- Romans 10:9-12
Our responsibility for the gift lies within verse 10, “with the heart man believeth unto righteousness.” Believing is a verb. It is action. To be righteous is to live rightly according to the written Word. Only God knows the heart of any individual but gives His gift freely to those that make the decision to change towards right living according to His standard. Regardless if the individual remains on righteousness’s path perfectly for their earthly lifetime or not. This isn’t the administration of the Law of the Old Testament. We are under grace being today in the Grace administration. The gift can’t be worked for. You just have to want it and be willing to be changed by it. It is of God’s grace. And if I might add. It’s priceless.
- For by grace are ye saved through *faith; (*believing. Romans 10:9) and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
- Not of works, lest any man should boast.
- For we are his *workmanship, (*masterpiece) created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
- Ephesians 2:8-10
The gift of holy spirit is seed. Just as your physical father’s seed is in you, so is the spiritual Father’s. The gift of holy spirit is the new birth. It is eternal. It is yours by your free will choice in making the only genetic son of God your leader in life, coming to an understanding of him and be willing to discipline yourself to his teachings and the teachings of him found in the written Word.
Why aren’t we taught about the gift of holy spirit? Well… simply put, to know it, to have it and to operate it makes the child of the Creator a threat and the enemy of the god of this world who offers people all over the world religions in an attempt to keep everyone from the truth. It is only by way of the gift of holy spirit that leads people into a true right-dividing and understanding of God’s written Word. As Jesus taught…
- But the Comforter, which is the *Holy Ghost, (*the translators capitalized the “H” and “G”, should read “holy spirit” referring to the gift) whom the Father will send in my name, *he (*it, referring to the gift) shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
- John 14:26
How dangerous to the god of this world is this gift in the hands of anyone willing to discipline themselves to Jesus Christ through God’s Word?
- But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
- Which none of the *princes of this world (*referring to devil spirits) knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
- But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
- 1 Corinthians 2:7-9
Although Paul received the knowledge of the Mystery doctrinally thousands of years ago, it is still pretty much a mystery to Christians today having been successfully buried for almost all that time by the rise of the Roman Catholic empire which continues to deny this reality along with its denominational offshoots. which themselves holds to many of the same traditions. Dug up the last hundred years or so as the light cannot be kept under a bushel. Which begs the question. How can someone consider themselves “Christian” if they aren’t aware of the gift, how it is to be received and operated and its benefits? To be fair, many have become aware of it and how to receive it but many of those still need to overcome the ridicule given the operation of it and its benefits by mainstream religion. (Religion = man made forms of worship.) After all, it is the manifestation in the physical realm of the spiritual reality within.
- Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the *Spirit (*lower case, referring to the gift) of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the *Holy *Ghost. (*lower case - holy spirit, referring to the gift in operation)
- 1 Corinthians 12:3
This is that manifestation. To “speak by the spirit of God.” To speak to Him by the gift of what He is. His spiritual seed. The operation is not a “gift” as the translators of the Stephens text and mainstream religion would have you to believe. There are gifts such as healing and ministries but thee gift is the gift of holy spirit. The utilizing of it is the manifestation of the gift. It benefits anyone who operates it as laid out in 1 Corinthians 12, 13 and14. Erroneously labeled as “gifts” in the King James. Check your KJV for yourself. 1 Corinthians 12:1. The word “gifts” is italicized. Italicized words in the KJV were italicized by the translators to let the reader know they added that word and it isn’t in the Hebrew or Greek text. Here… from the Greek… the verse should read, “Now concerning spiritual matters, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.” For more on this spiritual prayer see Walk The Spiritual Talk linked below. And walk by faith/believing the greatness of God’s rightly divided Word. Allow the Word to dwell in you richly. Learn how the spirit operates and be guided by it. There are many out there doing it not realizing just what it is they are doing lacking the proper understanding of the doctrine of the family faith. It’s the gift of holy spirit. It’s God in Christ in… YOU! Live in the present!
