I believe it to be truly fascinating. Totally awe inspiring. I speak of course… of the depths of understanding available in God’s Word. I also believe this fascination to be true… and common, for any long standing disciple that applies biblical research principles in their study of God’s Word. Being a forty year student myself, I can attest to the awe and wonder one experiences at the realization that the rightly divided Word of God truly is fathomless. Many truths are hidden from the casual reader. As it should be. It takes effort… it takes work… to take one’s knowledge and understanding deeper. This is one aspect of what separates a disciple from a neophyte. A doer from a hearer only. As it is written…
- And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
- He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
- For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
- Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
- And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
- For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
- But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
- Matthew 13:10-16
Those that truly want to know truth follow Jesus. Following Jesus is a lifestyle of research and applying what is learned. This is what produces a disciple of Jesus Christ. This is a genuine truth seeker! Seeking truth… not only in politics, health, history… but all of life! Which is why God gave the whole world His “logos.”
- Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the *knowledge (*doesn’t say “your feelings”, “your opinions”) of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
- According as **his (**should be capitalized, refers to God) divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of **him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
- Whereby are given unto ^us (^those that believe God) exceeding great and precious promises: that by these *ye (*old English plural, “ya’ll”) might be partakers of the **divine nature, (**that comes with the new birth) having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
- 2 Peter 1:2-4
I’ll break that down for you as I look up the Greek definitions of specific words used in that passage. Just for you!
- It’s God’s desire to have a kind, affectionate, pleasing nature and peace of mind multiplied in individual believers through the righty dividing of scripture that leads a person to… and brings us to… an accurate knowledge of God and his only genetic son, our king.
- It is by way of His supernatural power in which He has already given us awareness concerning everything about life and thinking righteously through knowing Him and His calling us to manifest power and excellent morality. (It’s a calling in that free will is in play.)
- Understanding this higher power and higher morality is where we find how abundantly great and precious His promises are that… when known… causes us to want to behave as His children with the inborn, productive power that comes with the new birth and caused us to flee away from the evil in the world.
That’s a joke in that we all know no one’s perfect. Certainly not me! But I do my best to bring an ancient manuscript that has gone through multiple languages to a more precise, understandable state for our current time and cultures. Which is only one aspect of biblical research. It is beauty in motion… from my perspective… when one can take a written page and work it back to the speaker’s intent. Which is what “logos” means when referring to “God’s Word.” Getting back to the spoken Word. When God communicated with the men and people recorded in the book and His logos was brought forth. Then… it seems as if God is speaking to you directly. It’s awesome!
It is biblical research principles that must be learned and applied in our study of the Holy Bible. It’s why I’m focusing on biblical research in my podcasts. Speaking of which… I believe I’m ready to record the next one. A word study on the word “unbelief.” Subscribe to my Substack (if you haven’t as yet) and they will be delivered to your email. These principles I share as I offer what I see in the Holy Bible will take the seeker deeper into what is written than most will ever know. And then!… you think you get to know a verse or passage very well until some time goes by, you come across the same material… and then realize you didn’t know it all that well as you thought you did! You go through this enough times you get to the point you realize just how powerful meekness can be!
No one person will ever see all the intricate details Father has laid out for us in His Word. Not in this lifetime! But each and every one of us is on our own personal treasure hunt. If you’re awe struck at this reality, please share a bit about it in a comment.
This video below shares some amazing details hidden away in scripture. I’ve known most of this stuff, but I don’t believe many folks do. And gives tips perhaps on unconventional approaches to gleaning truth most people don’t see. This video was shared to me the morning of the day I wrote this post. Like me, this man ain’t perfect, but… his presentation here is a fine example of the depths of God’s Word.
